Chester Arthur "Chet" Goodrich of Alva passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, at the age of 82, surrounded by love and his favorite music. He was born on January 30, 1942, to Hollis and Callie Elizabeth "Betty" Goodrich. He found his greatest purpose in serving the people of Alva, his greatest passion in fishing, and his greatest joy in his family and friends.
At the age of 13, Chet went to work for the family business and spent his life so proud of the legacy that was Goodrich Heating, Plumbing, and Air Conditioning. The most dedicated and hardworking man, there was not one thing that he could not fix and for over 70 years, he helped to build and strengthen the foundation of the city of Alva. At the end of a long day, he loved a can of Busch with V8 juice and a John Wayne western on the TV, and every morning he made sure to throw the trash bags in the back of his pickup so his beloved wife, Yvette, wouldn't have to carry them up the stairs.
He loved taking his kids and grandkids out to the farm to fish and always had life advice to share when needed. He was the most amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be so incredibly missed by everyone that was lucky enough to know him.
Chet was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Betty Goodrich; his beloved son, Dustin Goodrich; his brother, Ron Goodrich; and his sister, Barbara Lamkin and her husband, Bill.
Chet is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Yvette Goodrich of Alva; daughters, Gaynell Goodrich (of Wichita, Kansas) and Kimberly Williamson and husband David (of Oklahoma City); grandchildren, Travis Courtright and his wife Christina (of Berryville, Arkansas), Derek Courtright and his wife Kylee (of Wichita, Kansas), Tim Williamson, Callie Burleson and her husband Carter, and Kelsi Williamson, Devin Goodrich and Drake Goodrich (all of Oklahoma City); seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
