The funeral for Ernest Henry Engelken, 69, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.
15, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church, Alva. The Rev. Mark Ber-sche will officiate.
Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral
Chapel, Alva. Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 16, 1940, in Alva to Ella Helen Kletke and Ludwig Louis
Engelken and died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at his home.
He attended Zion Luth-eran Grade School and Lambert School, where he graduated
in 1958. He studied architectural drawing at Northwestern State College for two
years.
He served six years with Oklahoma 45th National Guard Division, taking his basic
training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and Fort Gordon, Ga.
He married Marcy McNett Jan. 25, 1970, in Cherokee. They farmed and did custom
harvesting for 27 years. He also worked for Baker Manufacturing, Alva. He was a
member of Northwest Pilots Association, having received his pilot's license, and
Alva Elks Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Marcy, of the home; one daughter, Leisa Renae TeLinde of
Alva; three brothers, Ralph of Wichita, Kan., Robert of Chico, Calif., and
Walter of Houston; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Alva First Untied Methodist
Church.
