ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Leroy Arthur Arndt will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, at Alva First Christian Church, with Pastor Ron Pingelton officiating. Interment will be at Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Leroy Arthur Arndt, son of Davey “Maynard” and Katharina Jean (Schmitt) Arndt, was born Dec. 30, 1953, in Hardtner, Kan., and passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 14 days.

Leroy attended Farry School, graduated from Alva High School and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

On May 22, 1976, he was united in marriage to Glenda Jo Wimmer in Alva, Okla.

He worked for a time at Wheat’s Western Store as a leather craftsman, and also worked on the farm. He was a gifted brick mason for over 40 years, practicing his artistry with perfection in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Arizona. He left his mark in many different homes, fireplaces and projects all over Alva, including the Centennial Wall and the entrance to NWOSU. According to fellow bricklayer, Raymond Knabe, “Leroy was a true artist in the field of masonry. He always took pride in his work no matter what he was building.”

He was a member of Alva Moose Lodge and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, gardening and farming, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Glenda of Alva; three children, Lori Caviness and husband John, Erica Lane and husband J.J., and Dallas Arndt, all of Alva; his parents, Maynard and Katharina Arndt of Alva; three sisters, Teresa Sutter and husband Ed, Tena Martin and husband Mike, and Rita Peterson and husband Miles, all of Alva; and five grandchildren, Huston, Avery and Nixon Lane, and Kaden and Kylie Caviness; and other relatives and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Alva First Christian Church.

March 20, 1957 - January 5, 2021

Graveside services for Glenda Arndt will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 8, 2021, with Rev. Ron Pingelton officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. There will be a visitation with family present on Thursday, January 7, 2021, from 1:00-3:00 P.M.

Glenda Jo (Wimmer) Arndt, daughter of JoAnn Wimmer and the late Bill Wimmer, was born March 20, 1957, at Chanute, Kansas, and passed away January 5, 2021, at Alva, at the age of 63 years, 9 months, and 16 days.

Glenda attended school in Alva and graduated with the class of 1975. She attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University. On May 22, 1976, she was united in marriage to Leroy Arthur Arndt at the Methodist Church in Alva.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Alva. She was a dedicated employee, working in accounting and management at WalMart for 40+ years. After retiring, she began working at NWOSU. She absolutely loved working at the college for the past few years. Glenda enjoyed planting and taking care of her flowers in the summer, attending concerts with friends, shopping and traveling. But her greatest joy was watching her grandkids play sports and attending their activities.

Besides her father, Bill Wimmer, and stepfather, Garland Wilson, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Arndt, and her father-in-law, Maynard Arndt.

She is survived by her children, Lori Caviness and husband, John, of Alva; Erica Miller and husband, Corey, of Enid; and Dallas Arndt of Alva; her mother, JoAnn Roberts and husband, Walter, of Edmond; her mother-in-law, Katharina Arndt of Alva; seven grandchildren, Kaden and Kylie of Alva, MaKenzie, Huston, Avery, Nixon, and Channing of Enid.

Also surviving are her brothers, Billy Wimmer and wife, Sandy, of Freedom, Charlie Wimmer of Midland, Texas, and Larry Wimmer and wife, Debbie, of Mobridge, South Dakota; one sister, Sharry Thompson and husband, Brad, of Hutchison, Kansas; in-laws, Teresa and Ed Sutter, Tena and Mike Martin, and Rita and Miles Peterson, all of Alva; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation .
