July 18, 1943 - September 30, 2024

Graveside services for Dorothy Marie Arndt will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Alva Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Charles Wells officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Dorothy Marie Shouse, daughter of the late Arthur Virgil "Art" and Dorothy Murial (Newell) Shouse, was born July 18, 1943, at Blackwell, Oklahoma, and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family September 30, 2024, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 12 days.

Dorothy attended school at Blackwell where she was raised with her sisters. In November of 1968, she was united in marriage to Lyle Gene Arndt at the Nazarene Parsonage in Alva. They made their home in Alva and together they raised their blended family of five children: Rudy, Darleen, Victor, Timothy and Alan.

She was a member of the Nazarene Church and loved her family and church, helping wherever she could. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, canning jellies and vegetables from their garden.

Besides her parents, Art and Dorothy, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her sisters, Beverly Conseen and Karen Karvela; and her son-in-law, Johnny Carver.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Rudy Briggs Jr. and wife Melissa (of Alva), Darleen Carver (of Alva), Victor Arndt and wife Gabrielle (of Tacoma, Washington), Timothy Arndt and wife Sherry (of Casper, Wyoming), and Alan Arndt and wife Judy (of Colorado Springs); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Beadles Nursing Home Activity Fund.
