Frankie Mae Steffes was born August 15, 1935 in Dill City, Oklahoma to Mary
Francis and Pete Richard Peffer. She passed away March 29, 2016 at Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 14 days.
Frankie grew up in the Dill City community and attended Dill City schools
graduating in 1953. After graduation, she was married to Donald "Jim" Steffes at
St. Francis Church, south of Canute, Oklahoma, on January 10, 1956. After their
marriage they moved to a few places within the Canute community before moving to
the old homestead 4 miles west of Burns Flat, Oklahoma. In the early 60's
Frankie raised her family and was a homemaker until the late 60's when she found
employment with a clothing factory in Elk City. She continued there until she
went to work for Kellwood in Clinton and remained there until she retired to
care for Jim. In 1988 Frankie and Jim moved 2 miles northwest of Canute to make
their home. Frankie enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family
and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband.
She is survived by her 3 children, Pam Gardner and husband, Kelly, Elk City, OK,
Troy Steffes, Canute, OK and Lora Willems and husband, Chris, Canute, OK; 2
grandsons, Jy Brown, Burns Flat, OK and Brock Steffes and wife, Jamie, Burns
Flat, OK; 1 great granddaughter, Malia Brown, Edmond, OK; 2 great grandsons,
Cache and Caden Steffes, Burns Flat, OK; 1 sister, Darlene Steele, Hoyt, KS and
a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
