Mr. Hamlett was born October 16, 1913, at Roseverner, Texas, and died December 9, 1995, at the age of 82. He was the son of M.L. and Mattie Greer Hamlett. Mr. Hamlett moved to eastern Oklahoma as a child with his parents. He and Alma Jackson were married on the town square in Madill on August 1, 1936, and they were the parents of nine children. The Hamletts moved to western Oklahoma when their children were young. They had lived and farmed in the Hobart and Dill City areas for the past 35 years. After suffering a stroke, Mr. Hamlett had lived at the Cordell Christian Home for the past six years. He was a member of the Roosevelt First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alma Hamlett of the home; four sons, J.D. Hamlett and Floyed Hamlett of Dill City and Bill Hamlett and Delbert Hamlett of Hobart; two daughters, Ann Maxey and Mary Srock of Dill City; two sisters, Jewell Riley of Whitesboro, Texas, and Lullie Kirtley of Coalgate; 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hamlett was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; two sons, Troy and Elbert; and a daughter, Fay.
Burial in South Burns Cemetery was under the direction of Hamilton-McClure Funeral Home of Cordell.
