James Robert "Bob" Black was born August 9th, 1938 to Luther
and Opal (Sanders) Black in Claude, Oklahoma. He went to be with the Lord on
February 24th, 2017 at his home in Burns Flat, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years,
6 months, and 16 days.
Bob attended school in Dill City, Oklahoma and graduated in 1958. He married
Sharon Kay Duffield on January 3rd, 1972 in Wheeler, TX. Bob worked as a lineman
and became a journeyman in 1965. He worked for various contractors until his
career with PSO. He retired from PSO in 1999. Bob was an avid hunter and
fisherman. He enjoyed crafting projects including stained glass and making
knives. He was a member of the Elk City Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd Degree
Mason and a Shriner. He was also a member of the Eastern Star. Bob’s first love
was his family and he enjoyed being Papa. He was a member of the First Baptist
Church in Burns Flat.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Omega Wolf, and
brother Wayne.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years and his 3 children: James Wayne Black and
wife Debbie of Bartlesville, OK, Lee Edward Black and wife Mary of Lawton, OK,
and Justin Keith Black and wife Catrina of Lawton, OK. Six grandchildren: James
Wayne Jr. and wife Keyomi, Jodie Lee, Jackie Keith, Savannah Maxine, Olivia
Marie, and Raylan Cooper. One great-grandchild: James King. One sister: Ojuana
Thomas of Little Rock, Arkansas and a host of other relatives and friends.
