Funeral services for Alvin Lau, 82, of the Clinton-Bessie area were held October 26 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Bessie, Oklahoma. The Rev. David Darling officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Kiesau Marler Funeral Home, Clinton, Oklahoma.

Mr. Lau passed away on October 24, 2002 at the Veterans Center in Clinton, Oklahoma. He was born November 22, 1919, near Bessie to Michael and Bertha Kiehn Lau. He married Viola Steigman on February 10, 1943 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, Oklahoma. He was a life-long resident of the Clinton-Bessie area, where he farmed for over 60 years. Alvin also worked in home construction and at the Bessie Coop for 10 years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was also a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years; three sons and their spouses, Dan and Linda of Clinton, Dennis and Cherie of Alva, Alvin, Jr. and Dana of Clinton; one daughter, Janie and her husband, Brian Branstetter of Duncan; nine grandchildren, Marc Lau, Matthew Lau, Laura Lau, Justin Lau, Alysa Reames, Christa Branum, and Tara Branstetter, Luke and Trey Lau; two great granddaughters, Julia Branum and Sydney Shay Reames; sister, Elsie Kroeker of Germantown, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Bertha Reiswig, Augusta Wohlgemuth, Martha Reimer, Ruth Nickel, Nora Nightingale; brothers, Ben Lau, Henry Lau, Mike Lau and two infant siblings.
