Larry Dudgeon age 70 of Lexington, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at his home.
Lawrance Gene Dudgeon was born May 26, 1949, in Carnegie, Oklahoma.?? He was the seventh child of 13 children born to Raymond Emery Dudgeon and Pauline Florence (Dooley) Dudgeon. Larry learned how to work hard as a young boy and he kept that same work ethic throughout his life.?? He grew up in Cordell and graduated from Cordell High School with the class of 1967.?? After high school he was drafted into the U. S. Army and proudly served his country for nearly three years before being honorably discharged. While in the service he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
While in the service, Larry married Charlotte Glasgow.?? Together they raised three children, Jacob, Chris and Rebecca. Larry lived in Moore for a short time before moving to Lindsay, OK in 1974. Larry started working for York International on March 20, 1972. He retired in Sept. 2000 after 28 years and six months of dedicated service as a Maintenance Mechanic.
Larry later married Jo Ann Miller on Aug. 30, 1996. They lived in Noble for one year before moving to an acreage east of Lexington in 1997. In 1998, Larry went to work for the University of Oklahoma and worked as an Electrical Technician, Mechanical Technician and Elevator Technician. He retired in 2010.
Larry loved his family, those tied by bloodline or those accepted through love. His kindness, trust and love taught many a child "that's what Daddies do". He loved working with his hands, fishing and being outdoors with his grandchildren who called him "PaPa".
He was preceded in death by:
Parents, Raymond and Pauline Dudgeon.
Two brothers, James and Jerry Dudgeon,
One sister, Mary Caroline Forbes.
His is survived by:
Wife, Jo Ann Miller-Dudgeon of the home.
Three children, Jacob Dudgeon and wife Rosa of Lindsay,
Chris Dudgeon of Ft. Cobb,
Rebecca Dudgeon of OKC.
Two step-children, Jason Bryant and wife Amanda of Lexington,
Leah Nelson and husband Jeremiah of Norman.
Five brothers, his twin brother, Terry Dudgeon and wife Frieda of Cordell,
Gary Dudgeon and wife Shirley of Corn,
John Dudgeon of Bessie,
Jeff Dudgeon and wife Deadra of Cordell,
Lee Roy Dudgeon and wife Lisa of Weatherford.
Four sisters,Viva Clothier and husband Chuck of Clinton,
Eneth Dudgeon of Childress, TX,
Mavis Cupp of Cordell,
Betsy Ardry and husband Wayne of OKC.
10 grandchildren, Aryele Pearson and husband Samuell, Kaygan, Logan, Rocket, James,
Maryann, David, Autumn, Jeremy and Pepper.
One great grandchild, Daxtyn and one on the way.
Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing and visitation for Larry will be Sat. June 8, from 1-8pm, and Sunday, June 9, from 1-5pm.
A Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Peace Lutheran Church, 11206 N 2250 Rd, Bessie, Okla. 73622.
His remains will be laid to rest into the Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 127 S. Canadian Street in Purcell, OK.
