Funeral services for Melvin “Mel” Kroeker, 78, Corn, Oklahoma, were held Friday, December 6, 2002 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Corn with Bob Burkle officiating.

Burial followed in the Corn Mennonite Brethren Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford.

Mel was born to George and Lydia (Flaming) Kroeker on October 10, 1924 near Corn, Oklahoma and passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He was raised north of Corn and attended school in Greenfield Rural School, graduating from Corn High School in 1942. On March 25, 1945, he married Sadie Meget near Cordell, Oklahoma, making their home in Corn. He entered the Air Force in 1944 to 1946. He returned to Corn where he farmed, retiring in 1999. Mel enjoyed golfing, going to south Texas during the winter, reading, watching sports, and he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Mel is survived by his wife, Sadie Kroeker of their home in Corn; one son, Michael Kroeker of Edmond, Oklahoma; two daughters, Pat Suderman of Weatherford; and Debi Fraser and her husband, David of Carrollton, Texas; one brother, Wesley Kroeker of Yukon, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
