Services for Sammy Troy Marcom were held October 28 at the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Southerland.

Burial followed in the Lone Star Cemetery, Rocky, Oklahoma.


Sammy was born to Harris Keen and Grace Maynard Marcom on May 3, 1927 at Lake Creek, Oklahoma.
He was a veteran of WW II service in the U.S. Army. He was retired from the PSO Electric Company as sales manager after 25 years. Sammy founded Barbershoppers, was a member of the Duncan Homebuilders Assoc., The Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanas and Toastmasters and worked with the United Way serving as chairman for one year. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Sammy married Mary Pauline "Penny" Grigg on October 20, 1945 at Port Orchard, WA.


He was survived by his wife Penny of the home; three daughter, Sonja Mask and her husband, Randy of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Kathy Newby of Oklahoma City, OK, Cynthia Smith and husband, Clayton of Chickasha, OK; one brother, Ray Marcom of Wapaca, WI, and one sister Dwanna Valsechhi of Santa Barbara, CA, seven grandchildren and nine grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.


Pallbearers were Quent Cowan, Kyle Smith, Cody Clingman, Justin Hall, Todd Wadsworth and Eric Smith. Honorary bearers were PSO and Barbershoppers employees.


Memorial contributions to the New Hope Baptist Church West, 5450 W. Beech, Dunacn, Oklahoma 73533 or Heartland Hospice, 415 N. 29th, Duncan, Oklahoma 73533.
