Funeral services for LaVerna B. Doran were held
January 20, 2003 at the Church of Christ in Cordell, Oklahoma with H.L.
Shirey and Bill Oden officiating. Interment under the direction of
McClure Funeral Home followed in Lawnview Cemetery.
LaVerna, daughter of Harley I. and Ethel (Duggins)
Botchlet, was born August 25, 1917 in Cordell, Oklahoma. She departed
this life January 16, 2003 at the Cordell Memorial Hospital at the age
of 85 years.
She lived in this area all of her life and was a
member of the Church of Christ.
LaVerna was united in marriage to O.L. "Lefty" Doran
on January 1, 1941 and to this union one daughter was born.
She worked for many years in the Washita County
Treasurer's office, retiring as deputy treasurer in 1981. She also
helped Lefty in the cafe.
LaVerna enjoyed cleaning house, working in the yard
and taking care of people, especially the grandbabies. At the Cordell
Christian Home, she continued to serve others, putting on bibs and
picking up dishes.
Survivors include her daughter, Patty Doran of
Cordell; grandchildren, Lauri Dixon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and
Michael and Lori Dixon of Cordell; two great grandchildren, Carlee Ann
and Allie Grace; two brothers, Layle and Elda Botchlet of Clinton, and
Jiggs and Earlene Botchlet of Elk City; sister-in-law, Ira Dean Botchlet
of Cordell; Joy Botchlet of Davis and Wanza Botchlet of Denver,
Colorado; other relatives and friends.
Preceding in her death were her father Harley I.
Botchlet; parents Ethel and A.G. "Daddy Butch" Jones; brothers, Loreel,
Harley, and Coy; and her husband O.L. "Lefty" Doran.
