Lorena Church was born July 16, 1930 in Elk City, Oklahoma to
Hazel Ester (Thomas) and William Lewis Morgan. She passed away November 28,
2014 at Hobart, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 12 days.
Lorena grew up in Elk City and was raised by her uncle Elmer (Red) and aunt
Lela Crump after her parents passed away in 1944. She graduated from Elk
City High School in 1948 and a week later was married to Lelan Foster Church
at Elk City, Oklahoma on May 16, 1948. The day they were
married they moved to their home southwest of Dill City, Oklahoma where they
made their home for 64 years. Lorena worked beside her husband her entire
life and raised her children. She was a member of the Home Community and
Education club (HCE) for over 50 years and she held every office multiple
times. Lorena enjoyed taking care of everyone else, sewing, feeding her
friends and family, attending the Elk City rodeo and was affectionately know
as "Mom" and "Grandmother".
She was a member of 2nd and Adams Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hazel Morgan, husband,
Lelan, son, Larry Church, son-in-law, Mike Black, sister, Gloria McMenamy
and three brothers, Lloyd, Bill and Leo Morgan.
She is survived by her 3 children, Lecil Church and wife, Denice, Sentinel,
OK, Lana Black, Dill City, OK, Lori Barnett and husband, Bill, Sentinel, OK;
1 daughter-in-law, Donna Church, Elk City, OK; 15 grandchildren, Chad Church
and wife, Meggan, Elk City, OK, Brad Church, Tulsa, OK, Kaylynn Whinery and
husband, Chris, Elk City, OK, Kyle Church and wife, Dana, Sentinel, OK, Leca
Hoang and husband, Joe, Stillwater, OK, Jeremy Church and wife, Amanda,
Sentinel, OK, Carla Sullivan and husband, Derik, Norman, OK, Chris Black and
wife, Britney, Dill City, OK, Greg Black and wife, Niki, Kingfisher, OK,
Nick Black and wife, Kiesha, Dill City, OK, Cody Church and wife, Vanessa,
Sentinel, OK, Chandra Barnett, Jessi Barnett, Brance Barnett, Braxton
Barnett, all of Sentinel, OK; 14 great grandchildren, a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
