Evelyn Dobyns was born December 24, 1923 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Frances (Flies) Merz and Frank Merz. She passed away September 11, 2018 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 18 days.
 

Evelyn graduated from Canute High School in 1942. After graduation she went to work at Armours & Co in Elk City, Oklahoma where she was employed for six years. On January 6, 1948 she married Victor Dobyns in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. In 1957 her husband passed away and she was left with three small children. Evelyn went back to work in 1968 where she worked at the Hi Di Hi Restaurant and Joe's Place for several years in Canute, Oklahoma.

In 1985 she went to work for Canute Public School where she was employed as a cook in the cafeteria. Evelyn retired in 1996 after that she enjoyed spending time and doing things in her home and being with her grand kids. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and a member of the Woman's Guild and also the Canute Senior Citizen's.
 

She is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Frances Merz; husband, Victor Lee Dobyns; brothers, Raymond and Joe Merz; son-in-law, Terry Schones; one granddaughter, Brandi Dobyns and 2 nephews, Perry and Danny Merz.
 

She is survived by 3 children, Joyce Schones, Elk City, OK, Sandra Acton and husband, Eric, Edmond, OK and Lynn Dobyns, Canute, OK; 9 grandchildren, Tracey Dickinson, Ryan Schones, Shaun Hamontree, Sara Stephens, Allison Acton, Emilee Acton, Stevie Voda, Joshua Dobyns and Meagan Cohagen; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 1 brother, James Merz and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Matthew Food Bank or Birth Choice. Both donations can be sent to St. Matthew Catholic Church, 3001 E State Hwy 66, Elk City, OK 73644
