Services for James Dean “Geetus” Brown, 64, of Ada will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 4, 2023 at the Reaper Baptist Church, Rev. Famous Cochran will officiate.  

Burial will follow at Elm Flat Cemetery.


James Dean Brown “Geetus” was born February 22, 1959, to Perry Dene Brown and Cora Ann Colbert Brown in Ada, OK. He went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2023. 


James was baptized at an early age and was a Reaper Baptist Church member. He attended the Byng School System, then enlisted and served in the United States Armed Forces. 

After leaving the Army, James went on to do what he loved, riding horses. He became a Jockey at the Ross Meadows Race Track for many years. He also worked for Bob’s Barbeque as a cook and later for the Chickasaw Nation Re-Entry, where he retired. 


James was preceded in death by his father, Perry Brown; one daughter, Eshawna “Piggy” Brown; one sister, Judy Ann Brown; and paternal and maternal grandparents.


He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Cora Ann Brown, Ada, OK; two sons, Colin James Brown and Sheric James Brown and; one daughter Jessica Marie Jordan (Kyle), all of Ada, OK. One sister Yvonne Brown; one brother Leonard Carrethers; seven granddaughters; and two grandsons, all of Ada, OK; three aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 


Bearers will be Terry Lucky, Anthony Lucky, Mike Sparks, Patrick Barber, Marcus Henderson and Preston Brown. Honorary bearers will be Tony Nelson, Nathaniel Blakely, Jr., Alonzo Albert and A.V. Lucky, Jr.  Flower bearers will be Michelle Sparks, Charlesetta Sparks, Katherine Henderson, Linda Daniels, Inola Simmons and Sheila (Post Office) Sturgeon.
