Louise Gunter was born July 22, 1925 in Burns Flat, Oklahoma to Opal (Ashworth) Turner and Leamon Forrester. She passed away July 22, 2018 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years.
 

Louise grew up at Hammon where she attended school graduating in 1944. After graduating she remained in Hammon where she worked at the local cafe`. Louise was married to Edward Floyd Gunter on December 15, 1945. After their marriage they remained in Hammon until 1947 when they moved south of Burns Flat, Oklahoma where they farmed. It wasn't until 1960, when they built a house in Canute, that they moved to make their home. In the early 70's she found employment with Western Vo-Tech where she was a secretary and continued until her retirement in the late 80's. After Edward's death she remained in the home until her health forced her to moved to Clinton and eventually Elk City to be closer to family. Louise enjoyed sewing, ceramic work, reading, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.
 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 sister, Reva Barrow and 1 brother-in-law, Rex Barrow.


She is survived by 3 children, Mary Mincher and husband, Phil, Yukon, OK, Don Gunter and wife, Jacquetta, Burns Flat, OK and Kenny Gunter, also of Burns Flat, OK; 8 grandchildren, Steven Mincher and wife, Josie, Tamra Munday and husband, Mike, Brian Mincher and Paula Millar, Jason Gunter and wife, Marcie, Crystal Webb and husband, Donald, Justin Gunter and wife, Janell, Starlett Brazell and husband, Jeff and Autum Cook and husband, Jason; 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Burial will be in the Canute Cemetery under the direction of Whinery Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com.
