Edward S. Scoggins, 60., died at 6:15, Tueday night at his home 529 Wyandotte following a stroke suffered Sunday. Scoggins was stricken about a year ago but had partly recovered until the second attack which left him unconscious. Scoggins had lived in Washington county since 1902. He was born in Wise County, Texas in 1879 and moved to Stilwell, Oklahoma in 1901, where he settled on a farm and was married to Georgia Ann Holland. The following year Scoggins moved to this county and settled on a farm in the Rice Creek community. In 1918, Scoggins moved to Bartlesville and opened the Scoggins grocery at 611 East Seventh Street, which he operated until 1932 when he retired from active business. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Scoggins is survived by his widow, Mrs. Georgia Ann Scoggins; two daughters Mrs. Marion Gardner of Duncan; Mrs. Jack Gray Jr. of Bartlesville; two sons Olin O. Scoggins of Long Beach California, C. Jack Scoggins of Shreveport. La.; three sisters. Mrs. Margaret Jetter of Ninekiah, Oklahoma, Mrs. Saide Horschier of Marlow, Mrs. Bell Thomas of LeFores, Texas and six grandchildren. Funeral services had not been completed today. The body is at the Moore Funeral home.
