(permission granted)
Raised in Bartlesville, OK, the daughter of Pearl (Graybill)
and Ben Harned, she married Milford H. "Mick" Smith
(also of Bartlesville) to whom she was devoted
throughout their 61 years of marriage. His career took
them to London, UK, Chicago Il, and Racine, WI, where,
each time, she made a beautiful new home and hosted many
parties for business associates and friends. They
retired in Stillwater, OK. She was a wonderful mother
who hosted two foreign exchange students, numerous
gatherings of her children's high school friends and
many years of homecoming float buildings - providing
meals, deserts, and countless pots of hot chocolate.
When her children left for college, she volunteered at
local hospitals. She was an accomplished duplicate
bridge player and a member of PEO chapter EP in
Stillwater, OK. She deeply and warmly loved her husband,
children, grandchildren, and nieces, and was a good
friend to many. She loved Christmas and birthdays and
any opportunity for the giving of gifts.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents,
her brothers Ben Harned Jr., Fred Graybill Harned and
sister Mary Catherine Harned, and her niece Elizabeth
Harned McClure.
She is survived by her son Stephen Smith and his wife Louise Fink, her daughter Kathryn Graybill, her grandson Benjamin Smith, great-granddaughters Olivia and Hannah, their mother Wendy, grandson Daniel Smith, his wife Katy, their daughter Karstyn, and her niece, Catherine Harned.
There will be a service of interment
for Sally and Mickey's ashes at White Rose Cemetery in
Bartlesville on Tuesday, May 9 at 11:00 am.
