Carl Ronald Rogers, 67, of Bartlesville, died Thursday in Bartlesville.
Carl, or Blue as he was known, was born into a large family of 10
children, the son of Clarence Ned and Flossie (Millage) Rogers on May
31, 1951, in Bartlesville. He was raised in Bartlesville, attending
local schools and finishing his formal education at Bartlesville College
High School. Family was Blue’s passion: he realized from a young age -
growing up with nine siblings and 10 cousins from his mother’s sister’s
family, the Washingtons - the importance of close family ties.
Blue could best be described as a rolling stone. His appetite and
willingness for adventure led him to journey westward to California and
eventually to Colorado before returning to his home in Bartlesville in
2010. Blue was a businessman who always found a way to make a living
working for himself. His favorite car was a Mercedes-Benz which he
always took care of with pride. He was a caring and faithful friend who
did everything in his power to help those around him.
Blue is survived by four children, Clemont Rowe-Rogers of Tulsa, Nylah
Bass and Micheal of Denver, Carl “Ronnie” Rogers of Denver, and Keya
Rogers of Bartlesville; three brothers Billy Rogers and Verna of
Bartlesville, Michael Rogers of Oklahoma City, and Albert Rogers and
Barbara Jean of Atlanta; two sisters Sandra Harris and Melvin, and Rose
Gains, all of Atlanta; a host of grandchildren; and lifelong special
friend Elvie Finks and her daughter Meoshe Finks.
He is preceded in
death by his parents, two sons Carl Rogers Jr. and Kenyatta Rogers,
three brothers Ed, Don and David, and one sister Barbara Jean
Bailey-Rogers.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 11-8, and Tuesday 9-11 at the
Davis Family Funeral Home – Walker Brown Chapel.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Miracle
Temple Church of God in Christ, with Rev. Ray Dixon officiating.
Interment will follow in the White Rose Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Walker Brown Chapel.
