Mary Elizabeth Toth Lewis died February 2. 2017
in Bartlesville, OK. Graveside services will be
held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 11, 2017 at
White Rose Cemetery, Bartlesville, OK.
Mary was born June 1, 1928 in Cherryvale. KS to
Mattie Opal Wantland Toth and John (Toby) Toth.
She moved with her family to Bartlesville in
1937. She married Earl Lewis in Independence, KS
January 7, 1946. They were blessed with 4
children. Mary and Earl made their home just
west of Bartlesville for 38 years. Mary lived in
the same place for more than 70 years.
In addition to caring for her family, Mary
worked as a realtor, a security monitor and at
the Family Crisis Center for more than 20 years
and as a caretaker for many friends. She served
on her election board, VFW Auxiliary,
Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers, American
Lung Association and as a docent for the
LaQuinta Foster Mansion.
Her faith and church were very important to
Mary. She was a charter member of the Labadie
Heights Baptist Church where she was Sunday
school teacher, treasurer, song leader and
trustee. She later became a devoted member of
Virginia Avenue Baptist Church. Mary was
responsible for the religious instruction of
many children that she took to Sunday school and
church for many years.
Mary is survived by one brother Ben Toth of
Wisconsin, two sons Toby Lewis and his wife
Sharon of Nowata OK and Jerry Lewis of Panama, 7
grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one
great-great grandchildren and many nieces,
nephews and cousins and sister-in-law Margaret
Toth.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Mattie
and Toby, her husband Earl one daughter Earline
(Punkin), one son Charlie, two grandchildren
Jamie and Shelly, by her brothers Bill and Bob
Toth, her sister Barbara Toth Brown and
daughter-in-law Debbie Butler Lewis.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that those
who wish to do so, may donate to Virginia Avenue
Baptist Church, 132 SW Virginia Ave Bartlesville
