Babe was born September 12, 1955, in Marshall, Texas, the son of Babe Ruth Jones Sr. and Johnnie Pearl (Cato) Jones. He graduated from Marshall High School, Class of 1973. Following graduation, he moved to Jeffersonville, Indiana to attend The Bible Institute. He relocated to Bartlesville, OK to serve as the minister of music for Christ Gospel Church. He also worked at Southwestern Bell and later Phillips Petroleum. On June 15, 1975, he married Linda (Thompson) Jones. Over the years, he worked as the choir director for Greater First Baptist Church, Sitel, and was a musician for Christ Gospel Church in Tulsa. Babe genuinely loved music. His love for music started at a young age. He began playing his family’s piano at the age of four and by the age of fourteen he was leading the church choir. He has played and sang for many different groups over the years including, The Sounds of Joy, Foundation, Youth on the Move for Christ, and The TLB singers. He also wrote numerous Christian songs as well as writing his son’s wedding song. Babe also enjoyed ministering to others, speaking Spanish when you least expected it, and he loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bernado Jones, and Elder L.C. Harris, Sr. and his wife, Fairy Bell Harris who always treated Babe as their own son.
Babe will be greatly missed by his son Shannon Jones
(and wife Brooke) of Sherman, Texas, his
grandchildren Keagan Jones of Tulsa, OK, Tyson Jones
of Shawnee, OK, and Treyson Jones of Denton, TX, 2

the doctors and nurses at Ascension Jane Phillips

prayer.
