Mrs. Joyce Irene Coates, 86, of Tulsa and formerly of Bartlesville, died at 7:37 A.M. on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Coates will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Sheppard officiating.

Interment will be in the Ramona Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
 

The Coates family will receive friends for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 9:30 A.M. until 11 A.M.
 
Mrs. Coates was born at Sand Springs, Oklahoma on March 8, 1931 the daughter of Wally R. and Maulcie L. (Fiddler) Gray. She grew up in Sand Springs until moving with her family to the Ketchum area where she graduated from Ketchum High School. She then became employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she remained employed until
her retirement as an executive secretary in Bartlesville. She was married to Gene Maret Coates on October 21, 1950 in Arkansas. They made their home in Bartlesville until moving to Tulsa to make their home ten years ago.
 
Mrs. Coates is survived by her husband, Gene M. Coates of Tulsa, two daughters, Cheryl Kelsey and husband John of Georgetown, Texas and Gayla Strauser and husband Charlie of Tulsa, five grandchildren, Jonya Williams, Krislyn Mann, Justin Hamilton, Laura Hightower, and Jenna Tyler and nine great grandchildren, Louisa Williams, Lillian Williams,
Henry Mann, Jocelyn Mann, Madison Tyler, Austin Tyler, Kinsey Tyler, Rohland Hightower and Aubrie Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
