Donald Ray Whitson was born October 13, 1937 in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma and passed away July 7, 2015 at Ochelata, Oklahoma at the age of 77.
On June 28, 1957 he married Deloris Sharp Solomon in Copan, Oklahoma. They had 2 sons. Don served in the Air Force. He was an avid coon hunter and fisherman. He was a tile setter at an early age and traveled a lot setting tile until his health failed. He was the caretaker of the Ochelata Sportsmen's Club for over 30 years.
Don was preceded in death by his wife in 2003 after 45 years of marriage, by his parents, Sarrah Elizabeth and Walter Lee Whitson, sisters, Onie Moore, Aileen Brown, Marsha Kay Smith and one brother, Johnny Whitson.
Don is survived by his sons, Donny (Annette) Whitson of Berryville, Arkansas, Timmy (Birdie) Whitson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, stepsons, Curtis Solomon and Jerry Solomon of Bartlesville, brothers, Jimmy (Dee) Whitson of Conroe, Texas, Ed (Judy) Whitson of Bartlesville, Ok., and Darrell Whitson of Dewey, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Memorial services for Mr. Whitson will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Matoaka Baptist Church with Pastor Sherman Jaquess officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ochelata Sportsman Club, 2360 Nowata Place, Suite A, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006.
