Thomas James Treece, 70, of Ochelata, died Monday in Bartlesville.
Thomas, or Tom as he was known, was born the son of Jesse Thomas and
Maryann (Speigle) Treece on July 26, 1947, in Taylorville, IL. The
family lived in Illinois, Arizona and California before settling in
Tulsa. Tom started work in the grocery business which he enjoyed - his
hard work proved fruitful and he was promoted to night manager in 1970,
assistant manager in 1971, and store manager in 1978. While working he
met a nice Tulsa University student Susan and they quickly hit it off
attending the Tulsa State Fair on their first date and uniting in
marriage the next April 2, 1971.
in 1978, they moved to Bartlesville where Tom was manager of the Madison
Safeway. They found a small farm in Ochelata where they lived for
several years before moving to their current home in Ochelata. He was a
hard worker and a good provider for his family oftentimes taking on side
work with his lawn mowing business which also offered a double benefit
to his kids who enjoyed working and learning the meaning of an honest
day’s pay. Most recently he worked part-time at Food Pyramid in produce
until he had to retire due to health issues.
Tom and Susan had 47 years of loving marriage and enjoyed doing many
things together including Junkin’ for treasures, working on the house
and taking the kids on road trips in the truck camper to California. Tom
had a passion for four wheeling, motorcycles, cars, model trains, and
buying and trading cars and guns. He was a wonderful grandfather who
went to great lengths to dream up games and tales for his grandsons
including imaginary characters who were always up to no good. Tom
outworked, outplayed and out-loved those around him, and he will be
dearly missed.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Susan of the home, daughter Annie
Tidrick and her husband Matt of Collinsville; son Bill Treece of
Collinsville; two grandsons Landen and Luke Tidrick; sister Debra
Armstrong of Bartlesville; and six nieces and nephews, Keaton Treece,
Shari Cawvey, Rachel Armstrong, Ashley Armstrong, Felicia Armstrong and
Jonathan Armstrong.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one
brother Bill Richard Treece.
