Charles (Chuck) Edward Shreffler II was born July 12, 1954, at Perrin Air Force Base in Sherman, Texas, to Charles Edward Shreffler I and Gladys Nell (Leard) Shreffler. He passed away July 23, 2012, at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, from injuries sustained in a car accident on July 20, 2012.
In December 1954, Chuck and his family moved to Barnsdall, OK, where he grew up and attended the Barnsdall schools. He attended Tri County Tech in high school for Auto Mechanics which became his profession.
He married Brenda Sue Potts on July 12, 1975, at the Ochelata Fire Baptized Holiness Church. They made their homes in Barnsdall, Bartlesville and currently in Ochelata, OK. They were blessed with two children and four grandchildren.
Chuck worked for Oakley Pontiac and Buick. He owned the DX gas station in Barnsdall for a short time. He was employed by the Phillips Petroleum Co. for 29 years as a Freight mechanic at its transportation center. He retired in 2009 and loved being retired.
Among his accomplishments in life were Chuck's work with the Ochelata Fire Dept. and service on the Ochelata City Council. Chuck also served as a reserve policeman with the Bartlesville Police Dept. for about 14 years. He got to work as a ranch hand in Osage County for several ranches. He was serving as lay pastor for the First Bartlesville Church of the Nazarene where he and his wife were members. He was dedicated to visiting nursing homes in the area for 14 years. He felt it was a calling for his life and loved it.
More recently, Chuck was working for the Davis Family Funeral Home in Dewey, OK. He also had just started a new business venture with his son Tim and was so excited to be able to work with his son. Chuck loved raising horses, cows, goats, sheep and chickens, and of course his three little pups. He loved children and animals.
Chuck left behind his wife of 37 years Brenda Sue (Potts) Shreffler of Ochelata, daughter of Roger and Erma Sue Potts of Ochelata; one daughter Robin Jenell (Shreffler) Mackey and husband Brent Mackey of Copan, OK; one son Timothy Aaron Shreffler and fiancé Sabine Casey and her son Daniel, of Ochelata; four grandchildren who were Chuck's pride and joy: Killian Lee, Austin Max, Kobly Skye, and Hailey Marie Mackey of Copan.
Chuck is also survived by his mother Gladys Nell (Leard) Shreffler of Barnsdall; two brothers David Shreffler and wife Linda of Pryor, OK, and Jim Yarber and wife Lisa of Barnsdall; one sister Pam (Shreffler) Todd and husband Clark of Barnsdall; as well as many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, brothers- and sister in-laws, and lots and lots of wonderful friends and family. Chuck was preceded in death by his father Charles Edward Shreffler I, grandparents, and several uncles and aunts.
The family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, ( 918-534-3030 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting FREE 918-534-3030 end_of_the_skype_highlighting ), 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Thursday, July 26, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being set up at the Bartlesville First Church of the Nazarene, 3650 SE Adams Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006.
Funeral services for Mr. Shreffler will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012, 2 p.m. at the Bartlesville First Church of the Nazarene. Dr. Russell Hosey of the First Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Interment will follow in the Ochelata Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Family Funeral Home.
