DAVIS FAMILY
FUNERAL HOME
DEWEY, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)
Richard DeLee Peterson, 57, longtime Bartlesville resident and
lifelong lover of all things rodeo, died Sunday, June 14, 2020, in
Bartlesville.
DeLee was born to Garland Richard and Betty Jo (Blair) Peterson on
October 3, 1962, in Muskogee, OK. He was raised in Fort Gibson and
Muskogee, then lived a year in Oklahoma City before the family moved to
Bartlesville. He attended and graduated from College High School with
the Class of 1981. During junior high, DeLee relished rodeoing and began
riding bulls, then specialized in calf roping. He became a professional
calf roper and travelled many miles to the big events throughout the
U.S.
At Disco International, he met the love of his life Andra Marie (Butler)
and they dated for several years before uniting in marriage on October
6, 1990, in Dewey, OK. They made their home in Bartlesville and DeLee
began working with Advanced Composites, then Phillips, and most
recently, was Lead Technician with Chevron Phillips after 32 years of
faithful service.
DeLee had many passions in life. From an early age, he was hooked on
rodeos. He also loved to hunt, Thanksgiving Day quail hunting with
family was a tradition. But more than anything, DeLee loved his family
and his friends. It seemed like he knew everybody because he never met a
stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and especially
enjoyed watching his son play basketball. One thing he didn’t know how
to do was to sit still, he enjoyed working on the farm and helping his
family. DeLee and Andra did everything together and they were always on
the go, watching sports and attending tractor shows. DeLee had a bit of
a mischievous streak so when they visited extended family, he loved to
tell stories and cut up.
DeLee is survived by his loving wife Andra of the home, son Brody
Peterson and wife Jess, brother Mike Peterson and wife Susan, sister
Donna Woods and husband Mike, all of Bartlesville; nephews Terry Woods
and wife Jessie, and Dillon Woods; niece Kaitlin Peterson; great niece
Elanie Woods; and one granddaughter Maisie Peterson.
He was preceded in
death by his son Cordell Peterson and father-in-law Frank Butler and
both parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Journey Home,
