David Bryan Yardley was born in Arkansas City, KS on November 16, 1945. As a child, David enjoyed collecting baseball cards and playing an old-fashioned game of marbles. He played the coronet, serving as first chair in the Arkansas City High School band; worked in various positions at Safeway grocery as a teenager; and began dating the love of his life, Linda Kathryn Naegele. On June 10th, 1967, David and Linda married and lived in Manhattan, KS for one semester while David earned his Mechanical Engineering degree from Kansas State University. He was a member of Triangle Fraternity. Upon graduating Summa Cum Laude, David and Linda moved to Houston, TX where David began a lifelong career in the oil and gas industry. David and Linda joyously welcomed their first son, Randall Bryan, in 1970 and the family later moved to Baton Rouge, LA. In 1974, David and Linda were thrilled to welcome their second son, Mark Brandon. That same year, David joined Phillips 66 and they moved to Bartlesville, OK where the family remains to this day. David retired from Phillips 66 after 26 years of loyal service.

David's faith was always first in his life. His friends called him “the parson.” He carried a piece of paper in his billfold quoting, “What is right is right, what is wrong is wrong, there is no in-between.” David was a member of the First Baptist Church for 46 years where he developed deep friendships. He helped the 5th grade boys Sunday school class and was a Royal Ambassador Leader for several years on Sunday evenings.
As a dedicated father, David's community service was motivated by his sons' activities. He served on boards for the Y-Indian Guides and YMCA and spent years coaching basketball and Little League baseball. David was an active supporter of Bartlesville Bruin and American Legion baseball and was always seen on the field prepping for the next big game.
In retirement, David learned the art of fly tying, became a bonsai enthusiast, enjoyed traveling the world, spent time fishing with friends and family, developed into a master gardener, and remained an avid K-State fan. But David's true love was spending time with his four grandsons-playing board games, teaching chess, modeling work ethic, and sharing his love of sports. David attended hundreds of baseball, basketball, football, and soccer games which proudly earned him the title, "Sports Grandpa."
David lived with Parkinson's for 18 years. He fought hard, exercised hard, and loved his family and friends dearly. Above all, he was a Godly man. David is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Mark Yardley and his wife Melissa Yardley, grandsons, Logan and Tanner Yardley (Bartlesville); daughter-in-law, Robin Yardley-Page (Bartlesville) and grandsons, Tyler Yardley (Carrollton, TX) and Grant Yardley (Prairie Village, KS); and numerous extended family members. David is preceded in death by parents Melvin and Vera Yardley; brother, Steve Yardley; and son, Randy Yardley.
The Funeral will be held at Bartlesville First Baptist Church at 11 am CT on Saturday, August 24th. In lieu of flowers and in honor of David's strength and determination, those interested may donate to Elder Care-PWR (Parkinson Wellness Recovery), 1223 Swan Drive, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
