Daniel V. Tidwell passed away peacefully Friday, April 29, 2016 after suffering a stroke.

The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Walker- Brown Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5th at the Baptist Temple in Bartlesville.

The Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #105 Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.

Reverend Dan was born May 14, 1927 in Stamford, TX to Leroy and Clara Tidwell. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II on the U.S.S. Doyle. He eloped with his sweetheart, Lucy Watkins on May 26, 1951 in Rockwall, TX. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this past year. After military service he followed the Lord's calling and completed a Master of Theology at the Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, 1954. Dan began serving in church ministry at the Calvary Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, TX as a youth/music director. In 1957 he founded Calvary Baptist Church in Perry, OK. Eight years later he moved to Bartlesville and was the pastor of Baptist Temple for 41 years until he retired in 2006.

Dan is survived by his loving wife and three sons: Garry Stephen Tidwell of Bartlesville, James Philip Tidwell and wife Dierdre of Fort Collins, CO, Paul Edward Tidwell and wife Kim of Parker, CO. He was blessed with nine grandchildren, Carrie Alexander, Elise Torres, Daniel Tidwell, Chad Render, Katrina Urbina, Keely Evans, Rachel Kummerfeld, Landon Moore, Katelyn Tidwell, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Dan is also survived by four sisters and was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cynthia Danette Render, brother, James Travis Tidwell and sister, Doris Ellen Schrock.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Reverend Dan Tidwell Memorial Fund, Baptist Temple, 3333 E. Tuxedo, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
