Paul Ray Tatroe

Mr. Paul R. Tatroe, 80, a Bartlesville native and husband of Ruth Tatroe, died Thursday, November 11, 2004 at his home.

Graveside funeral services for Paul will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday at the Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Joe Dan Fowler of the First Baptist Church officiating and full military rites will be accorded by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. Following the graveside services, memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the First Baptist Church. Services and interment are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home.

Friends who wish may call for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home until 9 P.M. on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial funds been established and those who wish may send their contributions to Cornerstone Hospice, 3414 S.E. Kentucky, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006 or to the Organ Fund of the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1080, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74005.

Paul was born on April 7, 1924 in Bartlesville to Guy A. and Loretta King Tatroe. He was a long time member of 1st Baptist Church having been baptized there in 1934 and has been a member since that time. He attended school in Bartlesville through the tenth grade. Paul continued his education at Oklahoma Military Academy where he graduated from high school in 1942 and completed his first year of college. While serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army with the 3rd Armored Division in Germany during World War II, he was wounded twice and received two Purple Heart medals. Following the war he remained in the inactive reserve and was recalled for several months during the Korean War. Following his Honorable Discharge he entered Oklahoma Baptist University. It was there that he met Ruth Hodges of El Reno and they married when he graduated from O.B.U. in 1950 with a Bachelors degree in History. That same year he joined his father's planing mill and glass company. He closed this business in 1982 and worked as an auditor at Ramada Inn for the next ten years. His interest in music started at an early age. He played flute in The Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra for 23 years. He was a member of the Downtown Lions Club for 35 years and he also served on the board of the Bartlesville Allied Arts Council for several years.

Paul is survived by: Ruth, his wife of 54 years; His three daughters, Nancy Arrieta and her husband, Gaston of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Guyla Anderson of Leavenworth, KS; Linda King of Bartlesville. Two grandsons: Andre Arrieta of Austin, TX and Ben King of Bartlesville. Four granddaughters: Adrianne Arrieta of Austin, TX; Jessica Mason of Bartlesville; Loretta Anderson of Leavenworth, KS; Allison Arrieta of Santa Cruz, Bolivia; One great grandson, Evan of Bartlesville; one great granddaughter, Faith of Bartlesville; his sister, Guyla Classick and her husband, Harold of Bartlesville, and his sister in law, Helen Tatroe of Scottsdale, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John A. Tatroe.
