Jerry L. Tallent

Mr. Jerry Lee Tallent, age 52, of Bartlesville, died Tuesday afternoon in the Jane Phillips Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Tallent will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Colonial chapel of the Neekamp Funeral Home with Chaplain Ron Tallent of North Richland Hills, TX presiding. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the James H. Teel American Legion Post No. 105 on the family plot of the Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Neekamp Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for those who wish to pay their respects.

Mr. Tallent was born in Borger, Texas, December 7, 1948, the son of Victor L. and Bobbie (Trimmer) Tallent. His family made their home in Henrietta, TX, Wichita Falls, TX and Borger, TX prior to moving to Bartlesville. He attending local schools, graduating from College High School in 1967. He attended Tarrant County junior College and Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah prior to his serving with the U. S. Army in Vietnam. He was honorable discharged in 1970, and continued his education at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Mr. Tallent returned to Bartlesville and associated himself with Phillips Petroleum Co. He and Susie Jackoby were united in marriage March 10, 1973 in Bartlesville. Mr. Tallent began his career with Oklahoma Employment Security Commission in 1974, retiring as Veterans Representative in 2000.

He was of the Baptist faith; was a member of Sunset Country Club; the American Legion and Eagles Lodge. He loved his country, the outdoors, hunting, golfing, his daughters and granddaughters.

The Jerry Tallent Memorial Fund has been established to benefit his daughters' education, and those who wish to contribute in his memory may do so in care of Stacy Copeland, WestStar Bank, P.O. Box 999, Bartlesville, OK 74005.

Mr. Tallent is survived by his wife, Susie, of the home; three daughters, Andrea Tallent of Oklahoma City, Krista Tallent of Tulsa and Kimberly Porter of Oviedo, FL; his mother, Bobbie Tallent of Bartlesville; two brothers, Don Tallent of Dallas, TX and Ron Tallent of North Richland Hills, TX; and three granddaughters, Kelsea, Cheyenne and Coty Porter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor, in 1996.
