Beverly May Schutt Swope, resided in Sun City West Arizona, died peacefully
surrounded by family Friday the 11th of May at the home of her daughter in
Battle Ground, Washington.
Born in 1932 in Neodesha, Kansas, Beverly graduated from College High School and
grew up in Bartlesville Oklahoma. She was a devoted wife, mother, and
grandmother. She excelled as an oil on canvas artist and taught art classes in
Portland, Oregon in the 1960's. She belonged to the Oregon Art Society where she
studied under Ben Larsen and Colista Dowling. She worked as a legal librarian
for an Arizona law firm and then a police dispatcher in Glendale, Arizona in the
1970's. She owned a gold mine and experienced the history of Congress Arizona.
Beverly was married to John R. McWilliams for 32 years, then in 1984 married
Donald Swope, designer for Bell helicopter until his death in 1998.
Beverly loved baking, experiencing good foods and socializing, enjoyed playing
bridge, dominos and traveling over seas and often to visit her children and
grandchildren in the Pacific Northwest and Oklahoma. She had a passion for
studying genealogy and writing short stories.
She is survived by her long time friend Stephen Stephens, her son John McWilliams, daughters Michelle Farmer and Valerie Larwick, grandchildren Ryan Boettcher, Christopher Honeywell, Jennifer Hankins, Chanel Boettcher, Chase Bargamento, Samuel Swope, and 6 great grandchildren.
Beverly's ashes will be laid to rest beside her parents and beloved husband Donald Swope Memorial Park cemetery Bartlesville during a private gathering.
Memorial gifts may be donated to any local charity in need.
