Mrs. Dora Mae (Dodie) South,
102,
of Bartlesville, died at 5:25 P.M. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at
her home.
Graveside services for Mrs. South will be held at 2 P.M. on
Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Memorial Park Cemetery with Mr.
Norman Kincaide officiating. Funeral services and interment will
be under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mrs. South was born at Dewey, Oklahoma on January 19, 1919 the
daughter of Floyd and Anna Marie (Lasure) Harrison. She grew up
and received her education in Dewey and graduated as the
Salutorian of the Dewey High School Class of 1937. She was
married to Joe W. South on April 15, 1942 at her parents home in
Dewey. Following Mr. South’s military discharge, the family
moved to Bartlesville where Mr. South was active with Reda Pump
until his retirement and Mrs. South was active as a homemaker.
Mr. South preceded her in death on July 13, 1993 and Mrs. South continued her home in Bartlesville.
She was active in her later years making scarves for the Lighthouse and lap robes for the local nursing homes. Mrs. South’s family would like to thank her caregiver, Mary B for the comfort she gave Dodie and her family for the last few weeks of her life.
One of Dodie’s great loves was her love of reading and for anyone wishing to honor her memory of her life the family suggests donations to the Washington County School Supply Drive, P.O. Box 2031, Bartlesville, Okla., 74006
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Jo Creed and husband Jim of Owasso and Julie Melton and husband Bobby of Pawhuska, and two grandchildren, Steven Creed and wife Michelle of Lubbock, Texas and Lisa Rubin and husband David of Arlington, Texas and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
