Lewis Abram Souders, Grove resident, formerly of Bartlesville, died January 29, 2018 at the age of 96 years.

Lewis was born on November 13, 1921 in Sedan, Kansas to his parents, Francis and Ivy (Jackson) Souders. When Lewis was 13, the family moved to Caney, Kansas.
He went to Coffeyville Junior College for one year after high school graduation. The day after Pearl Harbor, he went to work for Phillips Petroleum Co. He enlisted in the Navy (Seabees) in April 1942 and was stationed in Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated from Northwestern with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was also in the Naval Reserves from 1946 to 1954. In April 1946, he went back to work for Phillips in Borger TX and was transferred to Bartlesville, OK in 1959 where he lived until retirement.
He met the love of his life, Charlene Sanderson, in Bartlesville on a blind date. They were married in Tulsa Oklahoma on October 29, 1945 and moved to Borger, Texas in 1946. They enjoyed fishing, bowling, casinos, cruising, and going to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Lew was a HLS&R volunteer for 15 years and was a Lifetime Committeeman. Lew & Charlene also enjoyed attending the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas for several years. Lew was an avid TV sports watcher & enjoyed cracking pecans while watching football. Family & friends benefited from the bags of pecans stored in the freezer. Upon retirement, Lew & Charlene moved to Grand Lake where they thoroughly enjoyed the "lake life".

He is survived by daughter, Marcia Henry; son, Larry Souders and wife Vickie; sister-in-law, Betty Hamilton; grandchildren, Jeff Leinen and wife Tracey, Scott Henry, Brett Henry and wife Erika; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jamisyn Leinen, Riley, Zoey, and Josephine Henry; many other loving relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlene, daughter Judy Kay Stuart, son-in-law Bob Henry, grandsons Jerry Jay Leinen and Kyle Wayne Henry.

Family will receive friends at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday evening, February 2, 2018.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday February 3, 2018 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, OK.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in Lew's name to the charity of your choice.
