Hulon Gene Simmons died peacefully at home on June 22 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma
at the age of 89.
Hulon is survived by his wife Irene Simmons; his three sons, Gregg and Patti
Simmons of Fort Worth Texas, Stan and Julie Simmons of Katy Texas, and Brad and
Stephanie Simmons of Marietta Georgia. He is also survived by his 7
grandchildren; Jeremy Simmons, Bethany Fort, Zac Simmons, Kalie Simmons, Braden
Simmons, Lizzie Gafford, and Meredith Gafford; and two great grandchildren, Lucy
Simmons and Piper Fort.
He was preceded in death by father Rembert Simmons and
mother Earline Simmons.
Hulon was born on August 10, 1928 in Brooklyn Mississippi to Rembert and Earline
Simmons. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in 1950. He served in the US Army, being honorably
discharged in 1952. He married Mary Irene Jones of Bryan Texas on May 8, 1955.
After moving to Houston in 1953, Hulon began working for Phillips Petroleum
Company in the Accounting Office, soon moving into the Marketing Department
where he served many different roles. He relocated to Bartlesville in 1974 and
retired in 1987 after 33 years with Phillps.
Hulon was an active member of First Baptist Church for 44 years and served in
many area, including choir, Sunday school director/teacher, and a deacon. His
interests included; family, sports, working outdoors, photography, music, and
gardening.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 28 at 2pm at the Bartlesville
First Baptist Church main sanctuary, with a graveside service to follow at
Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor James Biesiadecki of First Baptist Church will
officiate the service, with Reverends Tom Cox and Charles McCarthy assisting.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Hulon's life.

The Simmons family will receive guests at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Wednesday
from 6 PM until 8 PM. Come and go visitation will be at the funeral home on
Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 AM until 8 PM.
