DAVIS FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
DEWEY, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Karen Ann Short, 72, died Friday in her hometown of Bartlesville.

Karen was born the daughter of Kenneth Roy Short Sr. and Patsy Earline (McGlathery) Short on Sept. 16, 1949, in Midwest City, OK. Her father worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. and the family transferred first to Odessa, TX, then to Bartlesville where she graduated from Sooner High School in 1967. She attended business college in Tulsa and later also accompanied her parents to Anchorage, Alaska, and overseas while her dad worked on the North Sea oil field project in Sweden and the U.K. During this time, they enjoyed traveling around Europe. Karen returned stateside to Bartlesville where she started her career with Phillips, then with Applied Automation. She was a remarkably fast and accurate typist. Karen completed her working career with Bartlesville Public Schools at its Education Service Center – she was named Employee of the Year in 2005, an honor she was proud of. To say Karen was an avid OU Football fan would be an understatement. She lived and breathed everything OU. She started attending OU games with her father and continued the lifelong tradition, oftentimes with friends. She bled OU Red and loved red cars, owning several over the years. The very last car she bought was a red Camaro. Karen’s fashion sense made sure she was color coordinated at all times. She was generous with her time and talents, volunteering with her favorite organizations. Karen greatly loved, and was loved by, her mother and father all her life. She had many stories about them during family gatherings. She was kind and notably aware that she had a firm foundation for her life and values and was thankful for it.

Karen is survived by her brother Kenneth Roy Short Jr. and Carole; nieces and nephews, Kenny Short and Maria, Martin Short, as well as a host of other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents.

Karen’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville, on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, from 6-8 p.m.

Visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 10-8. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.
