Mrs. Juanita Louise (Roberts) “Ross” Shipley, 87, died at 5:30 P.M. Monday, December 17, 2012 at the O.U Medical Center-Presbyterian Tower in Oklahoma City.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shipley will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, December 22, 2012 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. David Hammonds of the Adams Blvd. Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, Texas, 75284-1125.
Mrs. Shipley was born Juanita Louise Roberts at Davis, Oklahoma on June 26, 1925 the daughter of John Wesley Roberts and Willer Sarah Hawkins Roberts. She grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma and was married to Harold James Ross on August 26, 1941 in Lawton. They made their home in Lawton for several years until moving to Bartlesville in 1955. She was active as a homemaker and later was employed with the Bartlesville Schools in the cafeteria program until retiring in the mid 1980's as a cafeteria manager. Mr. Ross preceded her in death on October 17, 1980. In 1987 Nita married longtime family friend Paul "Les" Shipley. They made their home in Bartlesville and enjoyed traveling and then moved to Edmond to make their home in 2008.
Survivors include her husband, Les Shipley of the home, her daughters, Marilyn Fisher of Edmond; Teresa and her husband Don Roberson of Canyon Lake, California; Carol and her husband Mike Wofford of Oklahoma City and Kathy and her husband Terry Kerr of Edmond; a very special brother-in-law, Marion Ross of Bartlesville; Les's daughters and son-in-laws, Leslie Gay and Merkle Anderson of Houston, Texas and Rebecca Lynn and Stan Hankins of Bella Vista, Arkansas, five grandson, two granddaughters and eight great grandchildren.
