Following a brief battle with cancer, Johnny Wade Shull, 92, was reunited with Lucy, his beloved wife of 62 years, in their heavenly home on Saturday, May 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Johnny was born on December 21, 1932, in Wann, Oklahoma, to Raymond and Frances Shull. He was raised in the Wann and Dewey area and graduated from Dewey High School in 1952. Johnny met the love of his life, Lucy Mae Jones, in 1952, and they married on February 14, 1953. Johnny was drafted into the United States Army in 1952 where he served two years, after which he and Lucy made their home in the Wann and Dewey area, where they raised their three boys until moving to Whippoorwill Point in 1972.
Johnny had a strong work ethic, sometimes working three jobs to support his family, though he never complained. He retired from Reda Pump after 43 years of employment.
Johnny loved fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed taking drives around the Hulah and Copan Lake areas always able to tell you how many deer, turkey, eagles and other wildlife he saw on the drive. He could tell you how many hay bales were in each of Bill and John Strom's pastures, and how good the pastures looked. He enjoyed Saturday morning breakfast at the Copan Truckstop and visiting his kids and grandkids. When Johnny came to visit, he always knocked loudly on the off chance you might not hear him otherwise. We can still hear the knocking now.
If you were family, and especially a grandkid, you were always greeted with a smile, outstretched arms for the best hugs and a kiss. He was never short on his supply of candy, popsicles, or ice cream. Johnny loved all, and everyone felt his love. He has left behind wonderful memories, as he loved big.
He is survived by his three sons Bob Shull, Rick Shull and his wife Cheryl, and Mark Shull; four granddaughters Jakey Shull, Amber Rees and her husband Brandon, Krystal Shook and her husband Mike, and Crystal Cox; two grandsons Tyler Shull and Russell Ebert; 16 great grandchildren; and six great, great grandchildren. Johnny is also survived by one sister Edna Gray and one sister-in-law Barbara Shull along with several nieces and nephews.
Johnny was preceded in death by his wife Lucy, his parents Raymond and Frances Shull, two brothers F. G. Shull and Wayne Shull, one sister Gracie Joplin, and two grandsons Brannon Shull and Alan Shull.
A special thank you to his granddaughter Amber and his three sons, along with Comforting Hands Hospice for their excellent care of Johnny.
A graveside service will be held on May 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Family Funeral Home - Dewey Chapel, 113 S.
