With great sadness, we announce the death of our beloved brother, father, grandfather, and uncle, David Charles Shipley. David died suddenly on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, at Jane Phillips St. John Medical Center.
He was born July 11th, 1947, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Alva (Bud) Shipley and Lennie L. Shipley. David graduated from College High School, Class of 1967. Following graduation, he served in the United States Coast Guard from 1968 to 1971. After his military service, he found his true calling in carpentry. He dedicated himself to mastering every facet of the carpentry and construction world. His talent and passion for his craft were evident in every project he completed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Lacy Ranae (Shipley) Shaw. David is survived by his daughters, Joni Gorham and husband Rick of Florida , and Jennifer Allan and husband Grady of Florida. His sisters include Michelle Laughry and husband David of Arkansas, and Vicki Beel and husband Jim of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandsons, Dakota Wilson, Landen Shaw, and Kasen Shaw; granddaughter, Kynlea Gorham; nephew, Corey Shivel and wife Regina of rural Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and nieces, Nicole Bevard and husband Rocky of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Sara McDougal and Husband Brent of Texas, Jessica Laughry and spouse Sandee of Texas, and Audrey Shivel of Colorado.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10th, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Father Leonardo Morales will officiate the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Services.
