Mr. John Robert Riter, 88, longtime Bartlesville area resident, died at 10:37 P.M. on Saturday, April 21, 2018.

Funeral services for Mr. Riter will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Joe Alexander officiating. Following the funeral service, those who wish may attend the graveside service at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Riter family will receive guests for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.

Mr. Riter was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on July 31, 1929 the son of Amos Joseph and Bertha Louise Riter. He grew up and received his education in Bartlesville graduating from College High School. As a young man he was employed at the local movie theatres. He also worked at the Osage Garage, a family business, which his father owned. He was married to Billie Jean Huling in 1950 in Bartlesville where they made their home and had three children. Mr. Riter was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company in their refrigeration shop and worked his way up to the shop foreman position from which he retired after over 39 years of service in 1992. He was married to Eva Louise Adams in 1991 and they have made their home in the Bartlesville and Ramona areas. Since his retirement he operated Limestone Bait Shop in Bartlesville and assisted his wife in opening and operating Eva’s Flowers and Gifts. They also operated an outfitting service at their Cross JR Ranch. He was active in cowboy action shooting, the Bartlesville Roundup Club, his horses, and his farm. His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing with his grandchildren.

Mr. Riter is survived by his wife, Eva, his three children, Jerry Riter-Kung and husband Simon, Janet Reilly and husband Richard, and Johnny Riter and wife Renee. Nine grandchildren: Kimberly Withers, Tonya Kung, Justin Kung, Jennifer Riter, James Riter, Michele Riter, Jason Norris, Kellie Norris, and Mark Reilly. Nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
