Born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on November 8, 1933, he graduated from Bartlesville High School and then served in the United States Navy on the Aircraft Carrier Yorktown from 1955 to 1957. After completion of his military service he went to Oklahoma State University receiving his Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D. degrees all from OSU. He made his career at the same University becoming a Professor of Entomology and then made this his occupation until retirement. Richard's boundless passion will not be forgotten, but remembered forever by those who knew and loved him. Richard died on October 8, 2018, in Kansas City, Missouri, surrounded by those same family members who were so important to him.
Richard is survived by his wife, Karyl, his sons, Graydon and Randy, his daughters-in-law, Laura and Maira, and his grandchildren, Blaine, Anderson, Savannah and Parker.
Services will be held Saturday, October 13, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, Oklahoma at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the ALSAC- St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Local arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
