STUMPFF FUNERAL HOME
BARTLESVILLE, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)
Tooter was
born in Dewey, OK on March 6, 1928 to Floyd and Goldie Hacker. She
married Carroll Fred Potter on July 2, 1948 and had three boys, Fred,
Bruce, and Bill.
Thelma graduated from Dewey High School. She was in the Dewey band as a
Drum Majorette. She won a state championship award in roller skating
competition.
Tooter entered the workforce right out of high school working for the
phone company. She retired from Phillips Petroleum Company after 30
years and moved to Grand Lake outside of Disney, OK. She then worked
several years for the State of Oklahoma Park Department.
Tooter was very active in her church at the lake and also delivered
Meals on Wheels with her husband. Anyone who knew Tooter knew she loved
the water (although she never learned to swim) and always tried to catch
the biggest fish. She loved playing card games and dominoes, and somehow
always managed to win if you weren’t watching.
Things she loved: Her family, flowers in the garden, animated Christmas
decorations (including a singing fish with a Xmas hat). She loved a good
bargain and would never pass up a garage sale.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carroll Potter.
Survivors
include sons Fred Potter (wife DJ), Bruce Potter (wife Debbie), Bill
Potter, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 2PM, Tuesday in the Stumpff
Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Stumpff
Funeral Home in Bartlesville. Her burial will be at Memorial Park
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers we suggest a donation to Cornerstone Hospice or a charity of your choice.
