Genevieve "Genny" Nicholson passed away Monday,
February 1, 2016.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday,
February 5, 2016 in the Walker-Brown Funeral
Home Chapel with Dr. Kevin Tully officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of
Walker-Brown Funeral Home.
Genevieve Rose Nicholson was born April 4, 1928
in Ashland, KS to Leroy and Ruby (Crouch)
Dodson. She was raised along with her sisters,
Darlene and Dixie, by her much beloved paternal
grandparents Clell and Mary Dodson. Genny worked
for many years as a secretary for Phillips
Petroleum Co. She was a longtime member of First
Methodist Church and active in the 55 Plus Club
and volunteered at the Bartlesville Community
Center. Faith in God was at the center of
Genny's life and her children, grandchildren and
dogs brought her much joy. Genny was artistic
and creative. She taught painting for many years
and enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts. Genny
and her husband Nick were big softball fans,
traveling with her granddaughter Bethany's
softball team throughout the region.
Genny is survived by her two daughters; Michele
May and husband Bill of Jenks, Maya Betz and
husband Jay of Tulsa and son, Cody Nicholson of
Tulsa. She was blessed with six grandchildren:
Michael, Sarah, Bethany, Aaron, Adam and Kaelyn
along with ten great grandchildren. Genny is
also survived by her half sister, Mary Jamis of
Wichita, KS, numerous nieces, nephews and many
friends.
Genny was preceded in death by her husband,
Chauncey (Nick) Nicholson, her parents,
grandparents, Clell and Mary Dodson, two
sisters; Darlene Brown and Dixie Hazen, two half
sisters; Janice and Yvonne Wright.
