Genevieve "Jean" Newsbaum May 2, 1924 - February 17, 2026



Genevieve (Jean) L. Newsbaum, 101, formerly of Hot Springs, AR died peacefully on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026 at Belvedere Nursing Home.

She was born in Oswego, NY and was the oldest daughter of the late Otto A.H. and Mabel A. (Fletcher) Lass.

Jean was the wife of the late Robert (Bob) W. Newsbaum who passed in February 2004. She married Robert on June 1, 1946 and formerly lived in Bartlesville, Ok; Mahopac, NY; and Skaneateles Falls, NY.

Jean started as a NY Telephone Operator and in later years worked at Lincoln Hall, Lincolndale, NY in their accounting Dept. She attended East Cross United Methodist Church in Bartlesville, OK and Village Bible Church in Hot Springs Village, AR.

She was an accomplished tailor/seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, counted crosstitch, reading, bible study and various arts and crafts. She enjoyed traveling and attending with her husband his annual Army Reunions.

Survivors: daughter, Anne E. Newsbaum of Pawling, NY; son Gary J. and wife Janice E. Newsbaum of Colorado; and sister Gloria Halstead of Fulton, NY

She was predeceased by son Robert James Newsbaum; sisters Grace A. Kruck; Mildred Harvey; Dorothy Bullard; Carol Gregory and a brother Richard Lass.
