Mrs. Mildred E. Melton, 90, of the Sunset Lake area west of
Bartlesville, died at 4:41 P.M. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Medicalodge of
Dewey.
Visitation for Mrs. Melton will be held at the Stumpff Funeral Home until 11
A.M. on Thursday.
Funeral services for Mrs. Melton will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, June 8,
2017 at the Spirit Church with Pastor Darryl Wootton officiating. Interment will
be in the Memorial Park Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home &
Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations for music programs to be made
to the Bartlesville Public School Foundation, c/o the Bartlesville Community
Foundation, 208 East 4th Street, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74003.
Mrs. Melton was born at Strunk, Kentucky on October 2, 1926 to Claude and Edith
(Sears) Wood. She came to the Bartlesville area as a child and received some of
her education in Bartlesville and graduated from high school at Tishomingo. She
was married to W.S. (Bobby) Melton on April 8, 1944 in Bartlesville. Mr. and
Mrs. Melton made their home in the Bartlesville area all of their married Life.
She was a stay at home mom until 1962 when she was employed at Hometown Grocery
and was then employed by Phillips 66 until 1972. She was a member of the Spirit
Church in Bartlesville.
Survivors include two sons, W.S. Bobby) Melton Jr. and wife Julie of the Sunset
Lake area and Richard Melton of California, one daughter, Judy Hale of the
Sunset Lake area, a brother, Robert (Sonny) Wood of Bartlesville, four
grandchildren, Robbie Melton of Bartlesville, Joshua Hale of the Sunset Lake
area, Roseann of Texas and Christina of Bartlesville, several great
grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her parents, a son in infancy, Robert Eugene Melton and her husband, W.S. (Bobby) Melton on March 10, 2017.
