Ken grew up in Red Fork, OK and graduated from Webster High School. One of his favorite childhood memories was riding the bus downtown, buying a coney and a chocolate bar and watching a Saturday matinee, all for 25 cents.
In1943 he met his future wife, Gayle Kathryn Shogren, in Lindsborg, KS. Upon returning home, Ken and Gayle were married on December 17, 1945. They raised their four children in Tulsa, Lawton, Clinton and Bartlesville, OK where Ken retired from Public Service Company in 1982. Ken, Gayle and their son, Steve, started Mayco Services, Inc., a home improvement business in 1976. Ken and Gayle retired from that business in 1985, enjoying travel, their cabin at Grand Lake and time with their family. Ken never met a stranger, had a keen sense of humor and wit, and was loved by all who knew him.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ola (Gregory) May, his brothers, Allen and Rex May, and his two sons, Steven Kent May and Michael Kraig May.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gayle, daughters, Kathy Diane Revere and Karen Sue Nielsen, their husbands Tom Revere and John Nielsen and daughters-in-law Cathy May and Karol May. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; Brad May, Natalie May, Chris (Rachna) May, Jeff (Deanne) May, Heather (Jordan) Brim, Michelle (Victor) Sebastian, Kyle Revere, Emily Nielsen and Riley Nielsen.
