Richard was born October 31, 1933 in Bartlesville,
the son of Oren Emery and Sybil Lorraine (Kees) Lowry. He was raised and
received his education in Bartlesville and on October 31, 1951 was
united in marriage to Patricia Ruth Collins. To this union, four
children were born. Richard was employed at TRW-Reda Pump for 41 years,
retiring as the machine shop supervisor. He was a faithful member of the
Spirit Church of Bartlesville; and enjoyed many pastimes including
hunting, golfing in Reda tournaments, bowling leagues, and baseball
teams as first baseman.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 67 years - Pat; children
Kathy Smith and husband Robert of Broken Arrow, Karen Friend and husband
Terry of Dewey and Teresa Gaines and husband David of Bartlesville; two
sisters Sue Wootton and husband Harold of Bartlesville, Helen Sherrick
of Bartlesville and a brother Rev. Lester Lowry and wife Sonjia of Enid,
OK. Also surviving are nine grandchildren - Melanie Burns, Nathan
Groves, Amanda Groves, Bridgett Friend, Brandon Friend, Jared Scott,
Jacob Scott, Devon Lowry and Patricia Lowry; and fourteen great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Richard
(Randy) Lowry, and siblings Doris Louise Lowry, Vernon Benjamin Lowry,
Nadine Garrett, Orene Parker and brother-in-law Tom Sherrick.
Visitation for Richard will be on Wednesday, May 29th from noon to 8:00
pm and the family will be receiving friends from 6-8:00 pm at the Davis
Family Funeral Home - Walker Brown Chapel.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Spirit Church West with his nephew Pastor Darryl Wootton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Bartlesville. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home - Walker Brown Chapel.
