(permission granted)
Camilla was born in 1933 to Freddie and Leonie Comeau, and was the baby of their ten children. She grew up on the beautiful ocean shores of Nova Scotia, Canada, and remained forever proud of her French Acadian descent.
A bus tour of the Pacific Northwest brought her love, Robert Lutton of Portland, Oregon, into her life. Together, they built a life and a family together. A devoted mother and grandmother, she was blessed with four daughters: Natalie, Annette, Marie, and Claire, and nine grandchildren.
She inherited a love of arts and crafts from her parents and continued to develop and master her knowledge of art throughout her life. Camilla found great comfort and joy in sharing this knowledge with family and friends, and chose to teach weaving, design, and clothing instruction. She studied at the College Notre Dame d'Acadie in New Brunswick, Canada; the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington; and the Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina. She found community as a member and weaver of the Guild of Canadian Weavers, Handweavers' Guild of America, and various state and local guilds. She also nurtured a love of weaving through teaching classes at her Weaver's Song Studio in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Her memory will live on in her art, the work of her students, and her family's appreciation for the natural beauty of the world.
A dedicated servant of God, Camilla found ways to combine her faith and art in various spiritual ministries, including as a member of the St. John community in Bartlesville. On January 8, 2008, Camilla joined the Benedictine Sisters of St. Joseph Monastery, Tulsa, Oklahoma, as a Benedictine Oblate.
Camilla will continue to be loved by all who knew her. Her spirit will always be found in the flowers in our gardens, the butterflies in the breeze, and the songs of the birds. She will live on through the acts of service and community she inspired in us, and in every smile and laugh our family shares together.
Camilla joins in Heaven her parents; her sisters and brothers; and her husband, Bob.
Those left to cherish her memory include her four daughters Natalie and husband Dale, Annette and husband John, Marie and husband Trey, Claire and husband Bryan; and her nine grandchildren: Mackenzie, Miranda, Clint, Breanna, Zackery, Connor, Bobby, Tyler, and Aidan.
We would like to thank all our family and friends for their love and support. Thank you to Mary and to Lorie whose care and honor of Camilla until her peaceful rest was a blessing beyond measure.
