Memorial graveside services for Mr. Kitchen will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 26 at the Memorial Park Cemetery with the Chaplain Q. L. Bell of Grace Hospice Services officiating. Services are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 3292, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006.
Alonzo was born in Blaine,
Kentucky on November 18, 1925, the son of
James and Sally Kitchen. He grew up in
Blaine, graduated high school and attended Moorehead State University, Kentucky,
obtaining a bachelor's degree. After
numerous attempts, he was accepted into the
Army in 1950 and served as a medic in
Austria until 1952. He married Bettie Jeane
Roberts in 1953 and made their home in
Moorehead until moving to Bartlesville in
1956. Alonzo was employed as a chemist with
Phillips Petroleum Company for 29 years,
until his retirement in 1985. During this
time with Phillips, he had the opportunity
to participate in the product development of
several new plastics. He enjoyed the
outdoors and was an avid fisherman and
gardener,
Alonzo Gene Kitchen is survived by two sons,
Ronald Gene Kitchen and his wife Pegi Anne
of Tulsa and James Benson Kitchen and his
wife, Rebecca Lynn Stringer of Columbus,
Ohio, a nephew, Mike Roberts, and a niece
Sharon Ferguson, both of Blaine, Kentucky.
