She is survived by her four children: Robert Alexander Kurland (Leanne) of Richmond, VA; Ross Alan Kurland (Penny) of Johns Creek, GA; Dana Marie Warner (Robert) of Lake Wales, FL; Barbara Ann Rintala (Ron) of Doylestown, PA. Barbara was raised in Bartlesville and graduated from College High School, after which she moved to Denver, CO to attend Colorado Women's College, then moved to Dallas, TX to attend Southern Methodist University. She returned to Bartlesville and began working at Phillips Petroleum, where she met and married Robert A. "Bob" Kurland, fellow employee, basketball great, and most of all, best friend. They had a long and happy marriage, raised their four children living in various parts of the country, ranging from Wichita to Denver to Memphis to Cincinnati to Atlanta to Bartlesville. They traveled the country extensively, with car trips her favorite mode of travel. Together with Bob, she was always involved in athletics, whether attending a Basketball Hall of Fame gala, playing a tennis match or a round of golf, or watching her children's numerous basketball & football games and swimming meets. Ultimately, they settled down on Sanibel Island, FL where they were long-time residents.
In short, Barbara was a beautiful, smart, kind, sporty gal who loved the natural world and all its beauty. Most of all she loved her family and friends and was loved in return, always getting the most out of life.
A joint memorial service for Barbara and Bob will be held in Bartlesville next spring.
