Jack O'Dell Jones, age 92 of Joplin, Mo., formerly of Bartlesville, Ok., passed away early Friday, February 9, 2018 at Mercy Hospital following an illness.

Jack was born on June 18, 1925 in Mount Vernon, Mo., the son of Porter and Nella Mae (O'Dell) Jones. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his service, Jack moved to Bartlesville where he owned and operated Overlees-Woods Lumber Company for many years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Jack loved to golf and was a member of Sunset Country Club.

He was happily married to Myrtie Bess Childers, she preceded him in death in 2013. Jack was also preceded by his parents, three daughters; Janet Jones, Terri Green, Susan Green, and four sisters; Mary Sharon, Bernette Baker, Bernice Dodson and Alice Harris.

Survivors include two sons; David Jones and wife Sue of Pinehurst, N.C., Jim Green of Joplin, a daughter; Sheila Couch and husband Chris of Joplin, five grandchildren; Laura Reeder and husband Logan, Keith Jones and wife Junice, Ashlee Couch, Nathan Couch, Riley Green, and three great-grandchildren; Charlotte Reeder, Erik Reeder and Katherine Reeder.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children in Owasso, 12700 E. 76th Street North, Owasso, Ok. 74055 or to a charity of your choosing.

Graveside services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin, Mo.
